Benefits

Simplify and centralize the observability, management, and configurations of your resources on AWS and other cloud providers. Reduce the complexity of network management with private and public connectivity options across multiple clouds.

Deploying AI models and applications across cloud environments can be complicated and time-consuming. AWS capabilities help you take advantage of large language models and ML technologies in a multicloud environment.

Drive insights from disparate sources in a multicloud environment. AWS offers data and analytics services that allow you to gain insights from all your data, including data in SaaS applications such as Salesforce, SAP, and Google Analytics. You can query and surface insights from data stored in other cloud data stores without copying or transforming data, and collaborate with your partners on datasets stored outside AWS.

Access Oracle Database services running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) deployed in AWS and other clouds to accelerate application migration and modernization.

Our approach is to extend existing AWS capabilities to work in multicloud environments. Because we extend existing capabilities, you can leverage the large community of IT professionals trained on AWS, as well as shared community resources such as scripts and automated runbooks, on multiple clouds.

FAQs

At AWS, we give customers the freedom to choose technology that best suits their needs, and our commitment to interoperability is a key reason customers choose AWS in the first place. For example, we support open standards such as full wire protocol compatibility with open source databases, enabling seamless integration between AWS and other open source compatible databases hosted in other clouds. Customers can easily migrate any standard Kubernetes application to and from Amazon EKS without refactoring code. We support the Model Context Protocol (MCP) so it is easy to switch between different LLM models and providers when building AI applications without rewriting integrations. We also support FOCUS, the open-source cloud cost and usage specification supported by the FinOps Foundation, helping simplify cloud financial management across multiple clouds. AWS has been at the forefront of developing solutions that customers can use to run their applications on any cloud they want to.

Adding AWS to your multicloud strategy can improve resilience. From the ground-up, AWS builds resilience into its infrastructure, service design and deployment, operational models, and mechanisms, making AWS the most reliable cloud to build on. AWS offers the most comprehensive set of resilience features, purpose-built services, and prescriptive guidance to make it easy to build highly available applications to help you achieve your resilience goals. Phillips 66 Resolves Issues 30% Faster Using Observability Solution Built on AWS

Phillips 66 depends on thousands of applications to supply energy to people around the globe. While the bulk of Phillips 66’s workloads run on AWS, the company hosts its enterprise resource planning system on Azure and runs several custom line-of-business applications in on-premises data centers. Phillips 66 used multiple observability tools to manage this technology stack.

Seeking greater visibility across that volume of data, Phillips 66 looked to AWS to centralize and simplify the monitoring of all of its applications, including applications hosted with other cloud providers.

Rackspace Automates Infrastructure Management across Cloud Providers Using AWS Systems Manager

Manually managing hundreds of thousands of compute instances across multicloud environments is a tremendous challenge—not to mention one that can become expensive. Global technology services company Rackspace Technology (Rackspace) set out to resolve that dilemma for its customers by building a solution on AWS.

Called VM Management, the solution supports Rackspace in managing customers’ virtual machines (VMs) on AWS and on other clouds. VM Management automates the traditionally manual management of VMs or bare metal infrastructure, reducing the time IT teams spend on tasks such as patching, agent distribution, server diagnostics, and issue remediation in multicloud and hybrid environments.
